Welcome to my Minecraft Page. Here you can learn about the game, and see examples of how I use Minecraft with students. Ever since Jake showed me the game when he was in 2nd grade, I was hooked!
Want to learn about the history of Minecraft? Check out the movie below, which is a full-length feature that tells the story of Minecraft. From its humble beginnings in Notch's apartment in Finland, to selling the company to Microsoft for $2.5 billion dollars, this movie captures the spirit of the game beautifully!
I've included a section from the movie below, starting at the 1:06:00 mark, which is the later part of the film. This is where the educational applications are discussed. The clip features Joel Levine, who was responsible for making Minecraft available in schools. I have spoken with Joel from New York City, where he teaches. He helped me get started and then I was off and running!
Since purchasing one of the earliest versions of Minecraft EDU in 2013, I have been using Minecraft with classes and recording screencasts of the projects we have done in school. Below is my YouTube Minecraft Playlist, which includes 60 videos. Some are from Minecraft Club, our after school club that I've held on Tuesdays for the past 6 years. Others are screencasts from projects I have done with various classes over the years.
