With the advent of "Web 2.0" services, having your own site doesn't have to be an involved process. You could start your own blog or wiki and be up and running in a matter of minutes! However, if you have a business or provide services, having complete control of your own website becomes more important. Creating custom logos, accepting credit cards, and adding interactivity to a site, is not always possible with free providers.
