Welcome to my Project Gallery
Page!
Here are the results of various
projects that have been completed during my enrollment in UCD's ILT
Program. Enjoy!
"In a Poetic State" Webquest
This was the first project completed in our program. The goal was to
learn the basics of web authoring by creating a website that could be used
with our students. I chose to create a webquest that combines online research
on the 50 states with poetry skills. Students work on cooperative groups,
study one of the 50 states, and create poems that show that they learned
something from their online inquiry.
What
is the Perfect Website?
This project required us
to focus on the elements of good website design. We completed a webquest
called "On
the Cutting Edge" to help
us decide what makes a good website. Then, we created a website of
our
own that
shows
the
results
of our
findings
How
Do I? A Tutorial for Macintosh Users
The second project we completed in our web authoring class involved
using interactivity in a website. I chose to create a tutorial for the
staff and students at our school that helps learn the basics of Macintosh
computers. Using screenshots and Dreamweaver's "Course Builder" extensions,
I created a self-guided tutorial that teaches the basics of Macintosh Operating
Systems.
T.I.E.
Conference 2003-2004
T.I.E. (Technology in Education)
holds an annual conference at a mountain resort in Colorado. In the
past, the conference was held at Snowmass Mountain, just outside of
Aspen.
Last year the location changed to Copper Mountain, which is much closer
to Denver. As part of an elective credit for UCD, I went to the conference
and wrote a brief summary/reflection of each session I attended
Assessment
and Technology Project: CPS
In
May 2004, I received a grant from the Cherry Creek Foundation.
The proposal, titled "R.E.A.C.T." (Reaching Educational
Achievement through Computer Technology), focused on purchasing the
Classroom Performance System (CPS) from eInstruction to help students
achieve higher test scores. CPS is an instant assessment technology
where students receive a remote device to respond to multiple-choice
questions posed via computer and digital projector.
The link above
features a PowerPoint presentation, a website to support teachers on
asking good questions, and a Word document that describes
my assessment and technology project in more detail.
Sagebrush
Elementary School
Shortly after I began my
employment at Sagebrush Elementary, I noticed that the school website
had not been updated for quite some time. Several pages contained "Under
Construction" messages, while others contained outdated material. I
made it a priority to 'revamp' our school's website to something that
our school community could visit for important information. A "Learning
Links" page was also added to support teachers, parents, and students.
Joel Solomon.com
My
introduction to website design began five years ago, when I attended
a district in-service session on using Netscape Composer, a web page
building tool. This interest led to learning more about different web
design
programs. Next came some
Dreamweaver classes, and from there I was hooked! The more I learned,
the more I realized that instead of building sites for others, I should
start MY OWN site and be able to do whatever I wanted! And so joelsolomon.com was
born.
